GOBLET-KANTHAROS – A transitional type of cup dating from the second quarter of the fourth century BCE. This type is often considered the standard, and over time other variations developed from it. Complex engraved or stamped ornamentation became simpler, almost completely disappearing, as the overly structured surface reduced the amount of area suitable for decorations. (DB)
