CANTON PORCELAIN
This is the term used for Chinese export porcelain from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Porcelain ware was fired in workshops in Jingdezhen (Jiangxi province) and decorated with enamels in Canton (now known as Guangzhou, Guangdong province). Canton porcelain is characterised by floral and figurative famille rose (fencai) decoration. (JMl)
